This is a very wonderful workbook that not only incorporates writing and memorization of vocabulary, but is a grammatical review of whatever is taught in the textbook. I also love how there are listening parts to really help you learn the language.

This workbook is a very good supplement to the textbook Genki I. It contains numerous exercises designed to help solidify your comprehension of the material learned in each chapter of the textbook. I would say that the most useful portion of the workbook is the sections that teach you how to write the different Japanese characters, hiragana, katakana, and kanji, and has outlines that you can trace to get a feel for how they should be drawn. Unfortunately, the workbook does not contain stroke orders for kanji, but the kanji that you learn in the textbook do have stroke orders, and it is easy to cross reference with the textbook, since you should not have this workbook without the textbook that it accompanies.
