About the Author
Stephen Arterburn is coauthor of the best-selling Every Man Series from WaterBrook Press. He is founder and chairman of New Life Clinics, host of the daily “New Life Live!” national radio program, creator of the Women of Faith Conferences, a nationally known speaker and licensed minister, and the author of more than forty books. He lives in Laguna Beach, California.
Fred Stoeker is coauthor of the best-selling Every Man Series. He is founder and chairman of Living True Ministries and a conference speaker who has counseled hundreds of men and married couples. Fred and his wife, Brenda, live in the Des Moines, Iowa, area with their four children.

This book is poison. I have to characterize it that way because it is so crude and unnecessarily graphic in places that I can't possibly recommend that someone read it despite it containing some kernels of truth and good advice. It's inappropriate for a man of any age. And I write this not as someone who is unexposed to the world, but rather as an attorney who has represented rapists, child abusers and molesters. This book is simply no respite from the endless drumbeat of depraved sexuality in culture, and it is a disgusting and gratuitous sexuality at that. For instance, did the author need to tell us how he learned about masturbation? And how to do it? Including lubricant? Also, did the author need to burden us by telling us by name who his favorite centerfold was? (I keep asking myself--what if that woman is/becomes a Christian? Why has he perpetuated her shame for others to read?) The graphic nature of the text is unbelievably bad. Truly awful. Toward the end of the book there are some kernels of truth, but the balance of the book is so outrageous and unbiblical in its graphic depictions that I could never, ever recommend that a Christian or non-Christian alike read this book. The authors have a lot of emotional and spiritual growing up to do before they put books like this in the marketplace. I won't project bad intentions onto the authors, but I will categorically say that their execution is an epic spiritual fail. Mothers, and even fathers, may think that this is the 'strong medicine' that needs to be administered to sons who are caught up in pornography or sexual activity. It is not. This is not the only way to communicate with a young person.
Every Young Man's Battle is a no nonsense book that goes way beyond all of the usual ideas for sexual purity for young and old men alike. It is full of very direct, real world help for any man's struggles with what he sees every day.This book does not shy away from the subjects of masturbation, pornography, and girls and women who dress without enough clothes. (Mothers afraid of teaching your boys about too much of the world's truths, think again and get this book!)This book will give a guy a list of concrete things to do to keep himself out of trouble and moving on a path of healthy, happy living without the overwhelming feelings associated with being addicted to thoughts of sex or the guilt associated with these subjects. This book would be a good choice for any man and is an excellent choice for a single man of any age. (It is also good for young ladies as a help to show them what they are doing when they wear too little and to show them the way men think.---My 17 yr old daughter read this, too! Parental guidance advised for girls though, as it is a bit over the top for our feminine sensibilities and it could easily scare a girl a bit or make her conclude that all men are somewhat 'sick', which isn't the point of it all). As a parent of 5 boys, 3 girls and 'in law' children, too, I highly recommend this book.
