The Books of Bayern Box Set, Books 1-3 Description
About the Author
Shannon’s mother says she was a storyteller from birth, jabbering endlessly in her carriage as the two strolled through the neighborhood; once she could form complete sentences, she made up stories, bribing her younger siblings to perform them in mini plays. When she was ten, she began writing books, mostly fantasy stories where she was the heroine, and she continued writing secretly for years while pursuing acting in stage and improv comedy. After detours studying in Mexico, the U. K., and Paraguay, Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Utah and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Montana. In the interim, she submitted short stories and novels to magazines and publishers, saving all her rejection letters which she has since laminated into one continuous 60-foot roll which she proudly unfurls to audiences as a testament to her dedication and determination.
Since the publication of her first book, The Goose Girl, in 2003, Shannon has become a beloved author to young readers as well as booksellers and educators. Her third novel, Princess Academy, earned her a Newbery Honor and is a The New York Times, Book Sense, and Publishers Weekly bestseller. Shannon has also written two books for adults, Austenland and The Actor and the Housewife. Shannon lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband, Dean, their children, and their pet, a small plastic pig.

SUMMARY:
The Goose Girl: All her life, Crown Princess Ani has felt like she isn't good enough for her position. She doesn't converse easily with others and would rather be outside than locked inside doing princess things. So with her father's tragic death, Ani's mother makes a contract with Bayern, a neighboring country, for her marraige to their prince. Ani is devistated as she's always thought she would be queen of her own country, not some foreign land. Along the way to Bayern, she is overthrown by her lady-in-waiting and must pose as a goose girl while she attempts to find a way to regain her position. Throughout the journey she makes many new friends, discovers new talents, and finds that she is more important than she's ever dreamed.
Enna Burning: Enna is one of Princess Ani's best friends. She learns fire-speaking, as she is devastated from her brother's death, and the fire seems like a new friend. But fire is not as good as it sounds. Fire consumes everything that it touches, including Enna. In a novel with a totally different feel from the Goose Girl, Enna is faced with a difficult choice. Can she use her power to it's full extent to help Bayern win the war before it consumes her?
River Secrets: Lovable Razo, another one of the princess's friends gets his own story. Along with most of the characters from the previous two books, Razo goes on a mission to Tira, where war recently ended, to accompany the diplomat to try and set up some frienship between the two countries. But someone is trying to get war brewing again and Razo is the only one who can find the people responsible and keep everyone out of danger.
